You may conceive of FL as a tropical paradise where nobody keeps fish in aquariums, but to the contrary, on one of our main streets alone there are FIVE fish stores/pet shops in a one mile stretch, including a Walmart supercenter and 3 chain pet stores, plus a mom & pop marine hobbyist store. Ironically, there are only two active freshwater or fresh/marine societies for the whole state-- I'm trying to remedy this by starting a new group halfway in between them (57 miles one way and 200 the other way)- so far it's been rough going- however, the 2nd meeting will be held on Wed Nov12 @ 7:00 PM at the River Center of Burt Reynolds Park- 801 No. US highway #1, Jupiter Fl 33477. Anyone keeping tropical, native , or marine fish- or inverts- or water gardens (live aquatic plants)- or ponds is cordially invited. - The River Center is an information and community activities center operated by a civic group- and it is GORGEOUS- and full of aquariums-- if we can get them to agree on a reasonable rent, we'd like to make this our HQ- even to expand it by building a separate aquarium eventually.
